China 1943

Here's an early 1943 production "Know Your Allies" about China.  At the time we even had stations there.  Those would be stories I'd love to hear.

Know Your Allies - China

Times sure have changed.  No credits on the production but it sounds a lot like a young Marvin Miller

Wolfman Jack 1974

Back in the Golden Days of Radio stations blocked out Sunday mornings with Public Service programming.  Recruiting was a Public Service.  Wolfman, Gene Price and Roland Bynum did these programs for Roger Carroll's company. I guess it's some kind of a circle.

Welcome

This whole thing happens because we have a story.  If you saved any tapes or disks, please share.  There's a lot of people who'd like to hear them and I could certainly make a high quality cd transfer for your collection.

What was your AFRTS/AFN story?  What did it mean to you?  Why?

Thanks for visiting, if you enjoy it tell a friend!

Best

Jingles, the Voice of Home.

I loved this jingle package.  I was playing it before gold at SCN in the 1980s.  I've been looking for it for years and it turned up on the end of a production reel from AFKN in the 1960s.

AFRTS Guantanamo - Bill Stiles - 1966

The picture is Miguel Fernandez at WGBY, the AFRTS station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  Today we hear Bill Stiles, with "something for the ladies."  1966.  Bill's guest is Dorothy Lamour.  Jeremy found the tape:

"Those tapes came so close to getting lost forever. Dorothy Lamour is definitely "old Hollywood" I like her observations about people in Hollywood going out and spending money to seem rich." I totally agree.  Great radio and thanks for sharing!
She would be totally lost in today's Hollywood scene.

Wolfman Jack 1979

He sure had the magic.  Only one we'd get complaints about.  Wolfman could connect to the troops in the field.  Complaints would come from Colonels, compliments would come from Corporals.  We got him a better time slot.

AFKN reunion
